Newer Songs, Old English

Listen to any Top 40 song today, and it's clear that most don't have the most sophisticated or poetic lyrics in the world. So I often find it hilarious when someone interprets a song in their own unique way, whether it's Weird Al rewriting the lyrics completely, or another "Friday" parody uploaded to YouTube. One of the more interesting song lyric memes I've come across is that of translating, in a way, current pop into older, more eloquent English. The lyrics are usually accompanied by a picture of the original artist of the song, with a monocle and mustache added to denote a humorous, slightly sarcastic tone. Make any song more classy by using the most flowery language possible, and then get people to guess which song you're actually talking about.

  1. I love these memes! They are some of my favorite! I actually just shared one with a friend that had a Benjamin Franklin-esque man with text saying "Instruct me how to Douglas." Whoever came up with this meme idea is a genius.
